You are entitled to certain rights and privileges when you buy or redeem a lottery ticket:

Review Your Purchase

Before leaving the counter, make sure you received the exact ticket(s) you ordered. If needed, speak with the clerk or store manager before leaving the Lottery terminal area.

Check the Time Stamp

Retailers are not permitted to sell pre-printed draw tickets. Your ticket should display the time and date it was purchased.

Sign Your Ticket

Lottery tickets are bearer instruments. Sign the back of your ticket immediately after purchase to establish ownership. The CT Lottery is not responsible for lost or stolen tickets, and prizes cannot be paid without a valid winning ticket.

Check Your Tickets

Use a ticket checker at a Lottery Retailer or the official CT Lottery Mobile App to see if your ticket is a winner before asking for validation.

Understand Validation

When a Retailer validates your ticket, the terminal's monitor displays the prize amount on the screen. If your ticket is a winner, you may ask to keep the "PAYOUT" voucher. If it is a non-winning ticket, you may ask for the ticket back along with the "NOT A WINNER" voucher. Once a winning ticket is cashed, it becomes the property of the CT Lottery.
